Today we are going to have a detailed look at some words that you should be using if you have the chance to during your IELTS test.

Exhilarating
Word Family: Adjective  
Pronunciation: (ɪɡˈzɪləreɪtɪŋ / ɛɡˈzɪləreɪtɪŋ)
Stress: EX-hi-la-rat-ing
Meaning:
1) When you make someone feel very happy and thrilled.
Example: “That was an exhilarating ride, I want to go again.”

Word Family: Adjective

Stress: INN-o-va-tive
Meaning:
1) [For an idea, product], which feature new methods.
Example: “The new IPhone is very innovative with its dual cameras. ”
2) [For a person], who introduces new, creative and original ideas.

Stress: Me-TIC-u-lous
Meaning:
1) When you are very careful and precise. Every detail is checked.
Example: “I am usually meticulous with every post I write for IELTS Triumph


Perilous
Word Family: Adjective
Pronunciation: (pɛrɪləs)
Stress: PER-i-lous
Meaning:
1) Something full of danger or risk.
Example: “We took a perilous journey into the jungle.”
2) When you are exposed to imminent risk of disaster or run.
Our business is in a perilous state, we need to change things quickly.”

Profound
Word Family: Adjective
Pronunciation: (prəˈfaʊnd)
Stress: pro-FOU-nd
Meaning:
1) A very great or intense state, quality or emotion.
Example: “Scientists have made a profound discovery.”
2) A very bad or severe disease or disability.
I suffered profound kidney failure.”
3) A person who has or shows great knowledge or insight.
“He is a profound philosopher.”
4) A subject or idea that needs deep study or though.
“Sometimes the most simple words have the most profound meaning.”
  
Tedious
Word Family: Adjective
Pronunciation: (ˈtiːdɪəs)
Stress: TE-di-ous
Meaning:
1) When something is too long, slow, dull, and just really boring.
Example: “It was a tedious six hour car ride to go home for Christmas.”

Thrill
Word Family: Noun
Pronunciation: (θrɪl)
Meaning:
1) A sudden feeling of excitement and pleasure.
Example: “I got such a thrill when I went sky diving.”
2) An experience that gives a sudden feeling of excitement and pleasure.
Example: “Sky diving is the best thrill.”
3) A wave or nervous emotion.
“A thrill of nervousness ran through mybody before the test began.”

Thrill

Meaning:
1) [with object] When someone is caused to have a sudden feeling of excitement and pleasure.
Example: “We are thrilled with the results.”
2) [no object] To experience a sudden feeling of excitement and pleasure.
Example: Thrill to the magic of the funniest man in the world.”



Effortless
Word Family: Adjective
Pronunciation: (ɛfətlɪs)
Stress: EF-fort-less
Meaning:
1) Something, which need no physical or mental exertion.
Example: “If you keep practicing it will become effortless.”
2) When you achieve something very easily.
Example: “He makes looking cool seem effortless.”
