What’s the difference?
If you are talking about a time when you are not working or studying, and you are relaxing or travelling, then there is no difference. Generally holiday is British English and Vacation is American English.

People sometimes say flying is the most glamorous form of travel? Do you agree?
Key vocabulary
Package holiday = When you buy the travel and the accommodation for your holiday together
Breath-taking view = An amazing or beautiful view
Check-in desk = The place at the airport where you register for your flight, give them your luggage and get your boarding pass
Departure lounge = Where you wait for you flght
Far-off destination = A place far away from where you live
Guided tour = When a group is organised to go to an interesting place.
Holiday destination = Where you go for a holiday
Holiday of a lifetime = A special holiday, which you are unlikely to do again
Long weekend = A weekend holiday that includes Friday or Monday or both
Out of season = Not in the usual holiday period
Picturesque (pɪktʃəˈrɛsk) = A place or building, which is attractive in a charming way
Places of interest = the places that are popular with visiting tourists
Short break = A short holiday
Staycation = When you do not travel anywhere for your holiday
To go sightseeing = When you look around tourist sites.
Stunning landscapes = When the countryside is incredibly beautiful
Travel agent = A shop where you can choose and pay for your holiday or trip
Tourist trap = A place where too many tourists go
